New spa treatment is some kinda Wunderful

POULSBO — Poulsbo’s Wunderful Health is at the front of the wave in skin treatment, and is now offering a new, non-invasive and quick-resulting avenue for reshaping and tightening the body.

Accent XL is a new thermotherapy technology from Alma Lasers that puts controlled heat therapy to use, fighting wrinkles, bulges and sagging skin. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last year, the treatment is described as comfortable and quick, and it comes sans recovery time.

Wunderful Health owner Angel Wunder said the new therapy is most likely on its way to the forefront of the industry.

“In my opinion, it will probably replace liposuction in the near future,” she said.

Wunderful Health aesthetician Ashley Wiese said Accent XL targets specific areas and not only tightens skin, but also destroys fat cells and takes off inches.

Wunder, a chiropractor and certified extremities specialist, is certified in protocols that treat hard cases including Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), migraine headaches and Fibromyalgia. Her practice is integrating the Accent XL technology into its array of treatments, which are designed to offer each individual client tailored results.

Wunderful Health also provides low level laser therapy, which give adjustments “staying power” and pain relief, massage therapy, full spa treatments and ionic detoxification, which is designed to restore the body’s energy and balance while aiding its natural cleansing.

“We’ve actually seen our business go up in this economy,” Wunder said. “Our patients tend to be very, very loyal.”

Part of the reason? Listening. The six-person Wunderful Health staff creates a comforting and elegant atmosphere in which clients can find what will work specifically for them — something Wunder says is the opposite of a one-size-fits-all philosophy.

“We specialize in specific treatments for the individual,” she said, adding the staff is sure to make unique connections with each. “That way they are heard, they are given individual treatment.”

Wunder opened Wunderful Health in 2003. The Eighth Avenue practice has a sophisticated home-like feel. Wunder is also involved in chiropractic and laser technology research and development for the FDA, writing protocols, doing field support and infomercials.
