Hancock earned his CMP designation at the Mortgage Planner Summit 2008 earlier this month in Las Vegas. CMPs are trained in advanced wealth-building strategies that focus on understanding and managing real estate equity in order to meet financial goals and freedom.

Hancock has worked as a mortgage banker in Silverdale for the past seven years. He has more than 30 years experience in the real estate industry, having previously worked as a title officer, limited practice officer, real estate broker, builder, developer and land-use consultant.

Connolly and Brewton-Hight inducted into Farmers’ ‘Topper Club’

David Connolly and Magaly Brewton-Hight, Farmers Insurance Agents in Silverdale, were inducted into the Farmers’ “Topper Club” of Farmers’ top sales producers. They were recognized by Farmers for their outstanding sales achievements in 2007.

Presidents Council members will be honored at a conference held at the Bacara Resort and Spa near Santa Barbara, Calif.

Solvie appointed as Martha & Mary CEO

The Board of Martha & Mary approved the appointment of Chad Solvie as the new CEO, effective in September. Solvie has served as the administrator for the Martha & Mary Health & Rehab Center for the past seven years.

Solvie received a bachelor’s degree in long-term care administration and psychology from Concordia College and a master’s degree in organization & management from Capella University. He has 12 years of experience working in the not-for-profit healthcare administration field with the Good Samaritan Society and Martha & Mary.

Solvie is a graduate of the Leadership Kitsap program, recipient of the Kitsap Business Journal 40 Under Forty Award, serves as the current chair of the Kitsap Long-term Care Alliance and is an active member at First Community Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. Solvie and his wife, Melanie, have three young children.

Bill Brueggemann, who has served as interim CEO since the departure of Denney Austin earlier this year, will continue to assist the organization during the transition and the hiring of a new administrator for the Health & Rehab Center.

Olive Garden general manager honored among top restaurateurs

Dan Banales, general manager of Olive Garden in Silverdale, was presented with Darden Restaurants’ top honor — the Diamond Club Award. The award, now in its 11th year, is presented annually to general managers throughout North America who demonstrate outstanding results, delight guests with a genuine Italian dining experience and achieve top financial performance in the previous fiscal year. This is the second time Banales has received this recognition.

This year, Banales joins a group of 30 general managers selected from the 653 Olive Garden restaurants in North America. He recently joined fellow Diamond Club honorees and their guests for four days at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego.

Kitsap Bank hits milestone

Kitsap Bank achieved record asset and deposit levels at the end of the third quarter of this year, reporting total assets in excess of $815 million, which is up $44 million for the year to date, according to a Kitsap Bank news release.

Deposits also reached a record $639 million on Sept. 30. Kitsap Bank maintains its position as the largest bank in the county, with 19 percent market share, and continues to be profitable with earnings of $6.7 million through September. The bank reported total capital of nearly $81 million as of Sept. 30.

Silver City earns silver medal at beer festival

Silver City Restaurant & Brewery claimed a silver medal at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival. The top three winners in the competition’s 75 beer categories were announced Oct. 11 at the 27th Great American Beer Festival Awards Ceremony in Denver, Colo.

Silver City was recognized in the Old Ale/Strong Ale category for its 1999 brew “Old Scrooge” Barley Wine. The was Silver City Brewmaster Don Spencer’s fifth medal and first since 2006 when he won gold for his Gold Mtn. Pilsner.

MacDermid returns to practice law

Rob MacDermid, the former president and managing director of the Silverdale law firm, MacDermid Liebert & Morgan, P.S., has returned to the practice of law.

After working the past four years in real estate as a real estate broker, MacDermid returns to the practice of law with more than 25 years of experience in the areas of business and real estate law.

MacDermid served as Kitsap County Superior Court arbitrator and Kitsap County District Court judge pro tempore. He is a member of the Business Law and Real Property as well as Probate & Trust sections of the Washington State Bar Association.
