West Sound Small Farms Expo The West Sound Small Farms Expo will offer a one-day regional conference on farming, country living, sustainability and local food from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 5 at Olympic College in Bremerton. The event costs $55 and includes lunch. It will feature guest speakers, workshops and vendors for experienced farmers to those just starting out. The Washington State University Kitsap Extension is providing the expo and a complete list of workshops is available at http://kitsap.wsu.edu/.

Promotion announced at Kitsap Bank

Kitsap Bank announced the promotion of Janet Silcott to assistant vice president/marketing officer. Silcott joined the bank’s marketing team in 2004 and manages advertising, creating projects and marketing campaigns. She is a graduate of Eastern Washington University and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and Washington Bankers Association. Kitsap Bank is headquartered in Port Orchard and operates 20 locations throughout Western Washington. 

Bremerton Schools Foundation welcomes new executive director

Sunny Saunders Housen joined the Bremerton Schools Foundation as executive director at the beginning of the month. Housen is a Bremerton High School graduate and business owner of Gordon Sound. She has experience in fundraising, marketing and event planning and will be instrumental in the execution of the foundation’s strategic plan. The foundation  supports educational excellence for students and educators in the Bremerton School District through scholarships and grants.

7-Eleven to host franchise open house

An open house will be held at the newly opened 7-Eleven store at 9671 Silverdale Way in Silverdale from noon to 2 p.m. March 9 for those interested in starting their own 7-Eleven franchise. Attendees will be able to discuss franchising opportunities with one of the company’s experts, Tim Bain, to learn what it takes to become their own boss.
