Peoples Bank invests in local community

Peoples Bank is one of the area’s local businesses that takes great interest in our community’s development and invests in its growth.

Donations were made by Peoples Bank in support of local industry, education, the arts, environment and other charitable causes. In the first quarter of 2008, the Bank contributed a total of $35,000 to support local organizations and will continue to invest in the community throughout the rest of the year.

One of the organizations that Peoples Bank supported in Kitsap County was the Lee Belas International Scholarship Foundation with a donation of $500.

The Lee Belas International Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization established in memory of Sergeant Lee A. Belas, killed in action in Iraq Feb. 27, 1991, at the age of 22. The Foundation was formed in 1991 following Lee’s death in the Gulf War. The volunteer seven-member Board of Directors meets twice yearly to administer the business of the Foundation and to award scholarships to District 5020 outbound exchange students.

“We have always committed our resources to supporting local customers, local businesses, and the economic growth of the region,” said Charles LeCocq, President and Chief Executive Officer for Peoples Bank. “We take pride in giving back to the communities that have supported us for 87 years.”
