Woman stable after shooting in Port Orchard

Charges for suspect include first-degree assault, witness tampering

Police responded to a report of a gunshot in the area of 2099 Jefferson Ave. in Port Orchard March 29 where a “female with blood on her” had been seen getting into a black Mustang that fled the area, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

The description of the vehicle was broadcast, and responding units quickly spotted it leaving the area. Deputies stopped the vehicle on Bethel Road near the intersection with Lund Avenue, where they contacted the driver and an unconscious female victim, a KCSO news release reads.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue transported the victim, a 31-year-old Port Orchard woman, to the hospital where she was later reported to be in stable condition.

Deputies impounded the vehicle, and KCSO held it pending a search warrant. The driver was detained for questioning and ultimately booked into the county jail on charges including first-degree assault, witness tampering, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and an outstanding warrant for DUI.

Detectives responded to the Alta Pointe apartments where they attempted to interview numerous people, who were uncooperative, per KCSO. They served a search warrant on the residence and recovered numerous firearms and incendiary devices.
