POULSBO — The Rolling Reader program has openings for middle school, high school and college students in the Student Tutors Assisting Readers (STAR) College Grant program.
Rolling Readers/STAR is a college grant program that pays students $10 an hour to read with Suquamish Elementary and Wolfle Elementary students who test below grade level. Student Tutors can earn between $100 and $1,000 or more during the school year toward their college education. Rolling Reader/STAR College Grant Program is directly funded by grants and individual donations. For the 2011-12 school year, funding is provided by Discuren Charitable Foundation, Suquamish Tribe, Kitsap Community Foundation (Anne Y. Petter Family), Norcliffe Charitable Foundation, Lucky Seven Foundation, Suquamish PTSA, along with donations from individuals, families and community organizations throughout Kitsap County.
