PORT ORCHARD — With the gloominess of a rainy weeknight descended over the city Jan. 6, a chance to put acrylic paint on canvas board within the warm confines of Slaughter County Brewing Company was too much to resist for a group of about 10 budding painters, most of them from South Kitsap.

South Kitsap artist and painting instructor Danielle Rimbert held court over the artists at this instruction class, where they learned the basics of painting an inspirational and calming nature scene composed of dawn rising over a tree-lined lake.

The age range of the artists varied widely, but they all shared common ground by being beginner painters.

Rimbert said she conducts painting workshops on a regular basis at Slaughter County Brewing Company and other local locations.
