67-year-old woman charged with vehicular assault after head-on collision

Woman admitted to consuming four martinis before driving; victim sustained multiple facial fractures

A 67-year-old woman was charged with vehicular assault after allegedly crossing over into oncoming traffic and striking another vehicle on Kitsap Way Monday. The collision caused serious facial injuries to the victim.

According to a certificate of probable cause, Sandra Dickson crashed her 2015 Cadillac SUV into a small ford in the 6000 block of Kitsap Way, which resulted in the victim sustaining multiple facial fractures. The victim was transported to Tacoma General Hospital to undergo facial reconstructive surgery.

Bremerton police allegedly observed Dickson showing multiple signs of intoxication, appearing “dazed, lethargic and slow,” and having slurred speech. Dickson later admitted to police that she had consumed four martinis before driving, documents read.

Police followed up with the bartender at a Bremerton American Legion post, who confirmed Dickson had consumed martinis “just moments” before driving. Dickson was transported to Kitsap County Jail with a bail set at $300,000.
