Two Sequim women were injured in a five-car pileup on Highway 16, two miles east of Port Orchard, around 12:10 p.m. July 28, according to a memo from the Washington State Patrol.

A 1999 Dodge Ram pick-up truck, traveling west on Highway 16, lost a ladder in the middle of the roadway, according to the memo.

A 1999 BMW Z3 and a 2006 Subaru Impreza slowed down to avoid the ladder, but a 1994 Mazda pickup truck didn’t stop in time.

The pickup struck the Impreza, which struck the Z3.

Then, a 2000 Chevorlet Box Van hit the pickup which hit the Impreza.

The Impreza, Box Van and Mazda were totaled and towed. The Z3 was driven from the scene.

Two Sequim women–one 66-years-old, the other 78-years-old–were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

Both were passengers in the Impreza.

Each driver and passenger involved in the collision wore a seatbelt, and the Washington State Patrol believe drugs and alcohol didn’t play a role in the crash.

The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup truck was charged with “loss of load resulting in injury.”
