Reading time between an adult and a child is quite a cherished activity. Kids tend to want their parents to continue reading to find out what happens next, begging for one more chapter — please, just one more chapter! — but often, before the next page is even turned, the child’s eyes are peacefully shut, already in his or her own land of fairy tales for the night.
But to have a real princess read to you? That’s some top-quality reading time.
We welcome Princess Martha Louise to our quaint Little Norway Sunday and hope she feels at home. With the lingering smells of the lutefisk dinner from up the street at First Lutheran Church from the day before, she probably will.
The Sons of Norway will be bustling with the young and young-at-heart Sunday morning as the lovely lady herself will read her newly published children’s book, “Why Kings and Queens Don’t Wear Crowns.â€
But you don’t have to be a child to enjoy it.
Nor does a princess have to come to town for folks to realize the importance of reading to youth.
In the days of hustle and bustle during the school year and with the approaching holidays coming upon us, don’t forget the small things that matter — like spending time wrapped up in a blanket with your youngsters, while the wind and rain blow outside, and enjoying the time spent over a book — whether it’s a book about young wizards fighting evil or why princesses don’t always need to wear their crowns.
