As the final full month of school has rolled on through, Kingston High is anticipating summer now more than ever. This school year ends for us on June 17 and that day will be only a half day.
Spring sports are coming to a close; each sport did a fantastic job. Boys varsity baseball made it to state; girls tennis made it to leagues; boys soccer was not undefeated this season, but still had a terrific season and is planning on having an even better season next year. Selected students from track made it to districts, boys and girls golf did great, and lastly girls fast pitch played well also. And the Kingston High Schools Buccaneer cheerleaders were selected. Coach Heidi Uher does plan on taking her squad to competition this next up coming school year.
In the middle of May we had the annual North Kitsap School District Festival of the Arts at our very own school. There you could find artwork, pottery, photography, student made videos, performances, and vendors from businesses held throughout the school. All of the art displayed was from schools in the NKSD area. It was a great turnout that night.
“Fiddler on the Roof” debuted this month also. And I have to say, if you didn’t see it you missed out. It was funny, but it showcased the difficulties of religion, love, division and tradition. It was a three-hour musical, but it kept you in your seats. You didn’t even notice it was that long.
Advanced Placement testing was conducted for students who had those classes. At the end of the year if you a pass a certain test you will receive a college credit as well as a high school credit. These students studied like crazy for this test and well deserve a summer vacation.
Viking Fest was held on May 15, 16 and 17. Viking Fest is always huge for anyone in Kitsap County. This festival displays the history of Poulsbo and is enjoyable for anyone of any age. The KHS marching band performed in the gorgeous weather we had, and some brought home sunburns to prove it. Rides, food, vendors and performances were held all weekend long.
This month I would like to announce another graduating senior, my sister, Danica Rasely. Danica will be attending Whitworth University in the fall, and no matter how many times I say I won’t miss you, I will. I know you will overcome anything that life gives you and that you succeed in your goals. You’re family is always here for you and we wish you the best of luck.
Underclassmen mark your calendars for June 17. We are soon about to close off another chapter of Kingston High School history and may I say that this year was a fantastic one.
