Kingston boys top Port Townsend

The Kingston High School boys basketball team won its second game of the season and third in school history Friday, defeating Port Townsend 56-38.

George Hill led the scoring with 18 points. Sam Byers added 15 points and seven rebounds. The Bucs play at Klahowya Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Kingston girls run past Port Townsend

The Kingston High girls basketball team defeated Port Townsend Friday, 64-25. Sophia Baetz led the Buccaneer offense with 21 points and four assists.

The girls host Klahowya Tuesday at 7 p.m.

NK boys squeak past Trojans

The North Kitsap High School boys basketball team squeaked past Olympic Friday, 40-39. David Stock led the Viking offense with 15 points and seven rebounds. Brandyn Winkley added eight points and 12 rebounds, and Berkeley Nilles had 11 points and nine boards.

Despite the win, Head Coach Tony Chisholm said he was not happy with the way the team played.

“The bottom line is, we didn’t deserve to win,” Chisholm said. “They came to play and we didn’t. We just seem to have a problem with playing down to our competition.”

North faces Central Kitsap at 7 p.m. tonight at home.

NK girls fall to Olympic

The North Kitsap High girls basketball team fell to Olympic High Friday, 39-28.

Lauryn Blevins led the Vikings with seven points. Lexi Simmons and Nikki Taplin each added seven rebounds. The Vikings play at 7 p.m. tonight at Central Kitsap.

WRESTLING

Velarde wins at Chief Sealth Invite

North Kitsap High wrestler Jake Velarde took first place in the 119-pound division at the Chief Sealth Invitational Saturday in West Seattle. Teammates Josh Tucker (103 pounds), AJ Milyard (135 pounds) and Allen Dunlap (160 pounds) each took second place in their division.

The team competes Wednesday against Klahowya and North Mason at Klahowya.
