A fireworks theft at the Warren Avenue Pee Wee clubhouse could prevent the group from meeting its fundraising needs.

Monday morning, Bremerton Parks and Recreation employees noticed the clubhouse on 11th Street and Warren Avenue had been entered. When Field and Equipment Coordinator Mike Armbruster inspected the break-in, he noticed $750 in fireworks were gone, which the pee wees hoped to sell in its annual primary fundraiser.

The non-profit pee wee sports group aims to bring in $4,000 to $5,000 in fireworks sales every year to help pay for equipment, officials, gyms and registration for children whose parents can’t afford entry costs. To make up for the loss in sales, football players will likely have to sell raffle tickets later in the year, Armbruster said.

“It’s a big hit,” he said. “It’s really important our fireworks stand is successful to carry us through the whole year.”

Police have no suspects.
