Port Orchard man killed after jumping from his car

A 27-year-old Port Orchard man was killed Thursday night after apparently jumping from a car he was driving on State-Route 16 near Gig Harbor, according to the Washington State Patrol.

WSP Spokeswoman Trooper Brandy Kessler said that Anthony Burton “exited” the 2000 Ford Explorer he was driving Oct. 15, then was struck by a 56-year-old Gig Harbor woman driving a 2006 Kia.

The victim’s car continued down the highway for about a third of a mile before hitting guardrails and coming to a rest.
