A 34-year-old man was arrested after he called 911 to report he had shot and killed his 30-year-old brother during an altercation at their Poulsbo home March 22, probable cause papers say.
The suspect appeared in court March 24 and is being held in Kitsap County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder with a bail set at $500,000. He was scheduled to be arraigned March 25.
Deputies were dispatched to a home around 10:15 p.m. March 22 for a domestic violence call and discovered a man dead at the scene, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office says in a Facebook post.
Court documents say the suspect called 911 and reported that he had shot and killed his brother after the victim allegedly “pinned him down, choked him and tried to kill him” at their home on NW Circle Drive S in Poulsbo. Law enforcement officers entered the residence and found that the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his head.
Six spent handgun casings were located throughout the home. Investigators said the shooting appeared to occur in multiple locations of the home based on the recovered locations of the shell casings, and that the gunshot wound to the head did not appear to be fired at close distance, per documents. The Kitsap County Medical Examiner also determined that one of the gunshot wounds to the victim’s leg occurred after he had already died.
Investigators say the suspect did not show any obvious signs of injury to his face, neck or hands, but had scratches and bruises on other parts of his body. A detective also noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from the suspect, documents say.
