A South Kitsap school bus was damaged after a driver ran a red light, colliding with a turning vehicle and the bus on Jackson Avenue SE.

A South Kitsap School District bus was hit in a multi-vehicle accident Oct. 15 at Jackson Avenue SE and SE Lund Avenue in Port Orchard.

The bus was stopped at a red light when a southbound driver ran the light, colliding with a turning car before striking the bus, per the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. No students were on the bus, and the bus driver sustained minor injuries.
