A 19-year-old Bremerton man was arrested for assault early Saturday after cutting his neighbor with a dragon-bedecked sword.
Police were called to an apartment in the 3500 block of Marion Court at 2 a.m. to respond to an assault in progress and found the man’s 48-year-old male neighbor outside, his hand cut by a sword, according to police reports.
The suspect’s 36-year-old mother told police her son became combative after she and her boyfriend asked him to leave their bedroom. He refused and became aggressive with the boyfriend, putting on brass knuckles to threaten him. When the suspect later grabbed a “club,” his mother ran to a neighbor’s residence asking for help.
The neighbor came to the apartment and broke up the fight, but the suspect then grabbed his “dragon sword,” removed the sheath and pointed it at the neighbor’s face. The sword had a “squiggly blade” and a dragon shape. The neighbor blocked the sword with his hand, causing the cut, punched the suspect and left.
Police later found the suspect hidden in bushes between Marion Court and Bertha Avenue. He was taken to Kitsap County jail for investigation of second-degree assault, as well as marijuana and alcohol possession.
