Artists to showcase work on Poulsbo waterfront

All kinds of regional artists will once again be making their way to the Viking City’s downtown waterfront later this month to show off their creations at the annual Poulsbo Arts Festival.
For over 35 years, the festival, previously known as Arts by the Bay, has been celebrated in Poulsbo on the third weekend of August. Many types of art will be displayed and available for purchase such as jewelry, photography, metalworking, woodworking, ceramics, fabric and more. There will also be raffles of artwork, demonstrations and live music throughout the event Aug. 19-21.
The event is put on by Cultural Arts Foundation Northwest, a Poulsbo nonprofit that also organizes the Art in the Woods Studio Tour in November. Greg Enright, its president and producer of the festival, said there will be 41 artist booths set up.
“Most of them are local,” he said. “Because of the city doing some landscaping down there … we’ve actually added space. The setting down at the waterfront is just great.”
The festival was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 but was held last year. Enright said the turnouts are “weather driven. We usually do pretty well with the tourists that come in. We’ve talked to people from New York, Florida and Texas. Poulsbo is a touristy town, especially during the summer.”
Enright said food vendors are not provided since downtown has so many restaurant options. The event begins Friday from noon-6, then Saturday from 10-6 and Sunday 11-5. For details, visit cafnw.org/poulsbo-arts-festival.
