POULSBO — Children 11 and under are invited to toss their lines into the horticulture pond behind Poulsbo Middle School between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.
The pond was recently stocked with 500 rainbow trout, fresh for the hooking, in preparation for the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club event “Hooked On Fish Derby.”
If your youngsters are still untangling the rat’s nests from last year — fishing poles, bait and other gear will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents are encouraged to help the young anglers but are asked to refrain from snagging their own trout.
Complimentary fish cleaning will also be available to those lucky enough to reel in a whopper. This activity is hosted by the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club in hopes of helping kids develop a lifelong passion for fishing.
