Two drivers were taken to area hospitals after suffering injuries in an auto collision Aug. 9 at the 2500 block of SE Lund Avenue, just west of Chase Road SE in South Kitsap.
At 4:21 p.m., deputies from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office and engine and medic crews from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to a head-on collision between a 1992 Nissan Sentra and a 2011 Toyota RAV.
The Sentra was reported to have been traveling eastbound on Lund as the RAV4 headed west. The Nissan crossed the center line into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with the Toyota.
The driver of the Nissan, a 38-year-old male from South Kitsap, was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma with serious injuries.
The 70-year-old female driver of the Toyota, who is from Seabeck, was taken by a medic unit to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton for evaluation and treatment of injuries, according to Sheriff’s Office Deputy Scott Wilson.
The head-on collision closed off Lund Avenue for a couple of hours afterward.
