BREMERTON — The North Kitsap Vikings continued their unbeaten campaign with a 48-24 win over the Bremerton Knights Oct. 10.

The Vikings varsity team, now 3-0 in the conference and 6-0 overall, didn’t give the Knights (0-4, 2-4) much of a chance from the get-go.

The Vikings were off to an early lead in the first quarter with 19 points to the Knights’ six.

The Vikings scored another seven in the second quarter, answered by another six by the Knights.

In the third quarter, the Vikings resumed their pace, scoring 16 unanswered points.

The Vikings scored six to the Knights’ 12 in the fourth.

North Kitsap quarterback Alex Allbee completed nine of his 12 passes for a total of 147 yards and two touchdowns.

TJ Jensen led the team in rushing yards with 77 on 10 carries.

Kyle North earned three touchdowns, while Allbee scored one and Same Henden scored one.

Andrew Hecker led in receptions with three catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns.

The victory keeps the Vikings in contention for first in the Olympic League. The Vikings are tied with the Olympic Trojans (3-0, 4-2). Those teams do not meet until the last game of the regular season, Oct. 31.

SOCCER

PORT ANGELES — For the second game in a row, the Roughriders started slow by giving up a goal in the first 90 seconds.

Unlike its game against North Mason, though, Port Angeles was not able to recover on Oct. 14 at Civic Field.

“You can’t give the best team in the league a 1-0 lead in such a short time,” Port Angeles coach Scott Moseley said.

“We weren’t passing well and our work rate was sub-par. They made us pay for that.”

After falling behind 3-0, the Riders did get a goal back when an Emma Moseley free kick bounced around in the box and was finished by junior midfielder Madison St. George.

The Vikings earned a final late tally to make the game 4-1.

Overall, North Kitsap had 28 shots on goal while Port Angeles had nine.

Next: North Kitsap at North Mason Oct. 16. Hosts Sequim at 6:45 p.m., Oct. 21.

But that wasn’t enough to beat the Vikings (7-0, 9-0).

The Vikings lead the Olympic League, ahead of Sequim (7-1, 9-1).
