Thirteen Japanese foreign-exchange students, who left their country three days after the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami, are finding a temporary haven in North Kitsap. Freshman County Commissioner Rob Gelder is studying North Kitsap issues, touring his district, and getting ready for a campaign to keep his job. Creosoted logs are being removed from Doe-Keg-Wats estuary.
