Account opened at Kitsap Bank for Kevin Burdick and family

An account has been opened at Kitsap Bank for Kevin Burdick and his family.

Burdick is being treated for esophageal cancer at Harrison Medical Center, family friend Norene Reeves said. He was diagnosed in May.

Burdick, a 1974 graduate of North Kitsap High School, is a handyman in North Kitsap and on Bainbridge Island, and delivers The Seattle Times and other newspapers. He has been unable to work since June, Reeves said.

Burdick’s wife, Jill, works part-time at Central Market. But because she’s been caring for her husband, she hasn’t been able to work enough hours to qualify for medical benefits in February.

The Burdicks have a 26-year-old son, Bill.

Reeves and the Burdicks are childhood friends. “I asked him to marry me when I was 4,” said Reeves, swim coach at North Kitsap High School for 17 years. “He actually didn’t answer. The standing joke between us is that he had to marry Jill so he could be godfather to my three kids.”

The nearest Kitsap Bank branch is at 19725 7th Ave. NE, Poulsbo. Visit the bank’s website for other branch locations.
