Woman collides with parked car, wall while huffing an air can

A 31-year-old Bremerton woman was arrested Tuesday after a hit-and-run that occurred while she was inhaling from a compressed air can.

According to Bremerton police reports, the woman struck a parked car and then a concrete wall at about 11 a.m. in the 1300 block of Park Avenue and then fled on foot. After police tracked her down, she was transported to Harrison Medical Hospital for back and neck pain.

Police suspected the woman had been “huffing” when they found a bottle of compressed air cleaner in her car.

When contacted at the hospital, the woman told the police she remembers hitting the concrete wall on her way to see a friend, but didn’t know she hit a car. When asked about the air can, she said she tried to huff it while driving. The woman said she fled the scene because she had a suspended license.

Police observed signs that the woman was under the influence of methamphetamines because of her fidgety behavior, but she declined to give a breath or blood sample. After she was cleared at the hospital, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, a hit and run and driving with a suspended license.
