SWIMMING
North Kitsap defeats Olympic
The North Kitsap High School boys swim team defeated Olympic High Tuesday, 101.5 to 68.5. With the win, the Vikings improved to 8-1 on the season. Josh Despard qualified for the West Central District III tournament by finishing the 100-yard freestyle in 53.02 seconds. Ian Christen qualified for the district meet in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 5.18 seconds. The district meet is Feb. 12-13 at Hazen High School in Renton.
BASKETBALL
NK boys fall to Olympic
The North Kitsap High School boys basketball team fell to Olympic High Tuesday, 66-60. The Vikings dropped to 4-9 overall with the loss.
“We still haven’t figured out that rebounding is the start of our transition game,” North Kitsap Coach Tony Chisholm said. “We just don’t have the tenacity from any players to get the rebounds.”
Olympic’s Trent Gallagher poured in 36 points to lead the Trojans. Teammate Larry Dixon had 17 points. Brandyn Winkley led North with 21 points.
The Vikings host Klahowya at 7 p.m. Friday.
NK girls lose to Olympic
The North Kitsap High School girls basketball team lost to Olympic High Tuesday, 48-39. Indigo Williams led the Vikings (4-9 overall) with 11 points. Teammate Lexi Simmons pulled down seven rebounds.
North will play its next game at 7 p.m. Friday at Klahowya.
Kingston boys surprised at Port Townsend
The Kingston High boys basketball team lost to Port Townsend Tuesday, 42-37. Zane Ravenholt led the Buccaneers (6-3 league, 8-4 overall) with 14 points.
Kingston plays its next game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Neah Bay High School.
