Football

Klahowya’s football woes continued in a 40-16 loss to Chimacum at Silverdale Stadium on Friday.

The Eagles are winless in three games under first-year coach Lyle Prouse and have been outscored 135-28. Freshman Jacob Sheets, who started at quarterback, completed 2-of-9 for 10 yards and an interception. Running back Mike Swain provided the bulk of the offense, rushing 28 times for 190 yards and a touchdown.

The Class 1A Cowboys had a 26-0 lead before the Eagles cut the lead to 26-8 midway through the third quarter. The road gets no easier for KSS, which visits undefeated North Mason at 7 p.m. Friday.

CK, meanwhile, dropped to 1-2 with a 31-10 loss to Gig Harbor on Thursday. The team hosts Lincoln at 7 p.m. Friday.

Girls soccer

The Olympic girls soccer team dropped its second match of the season Saturday, falling 2-0 on the road to Bainbridge. After a scoreless first half, Bainbridge tallied scores in the 54th and 75th minutes to secure their third consecutive win.

The Lady Trojans (2-2-1) visit Bremerton at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Central Kitsap (4-1-0), coming off a 9-1 clobbering of Lincoln, is at Gig Harbor at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Klahowya (4-0), which beat Sequim 7-0 Thursday behind Jordan Dixon’s second hat trick in as many weeks, looks to stay unbeaten when it hosts Steilacoom at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Cross country

Central Kitsap senior Shane Moskowitz led the Cougars cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the Fort Steilacoom Invitational on Saturday. Moskowitz, who last year won Class 4A state track and field titles in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races, completed the 5,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 9.6 seconds, more than 31 seconds faster than second-place Casey Campbell.

Shannon Moskowitz, Shane’s twin sister, finished ninth in the girls race. Thirty-nine teams competed.
