Meeting will discuss Suquamish road closures

The Suquamish Citizens Advisory Committee is hosting a community-wide meeting from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at the “House of Awakened Culture.”
Members will discuss the impact of the 2009 Tribal Canoe Journey being hosted by the Suquamish Tribe in Suquamish Aug. 3-8 as well as pending Kitsap County Public Works projects beginning this summer.
Tina Jackson, 2009 Tribal Canoe Journey coordinator, will cover the highlights of the Canoe Journey, including logistics such as transportation, food service and overnight accommodations. KCPW project manager Tina Nelson will provide details on two road-closing projects on Geneva Street and Division Avenue. The Suquamish Police will also discuss traffic control.
After presentations, the community is being encouraged to meet with speakers, SCAC members and Canoe Journey representatives to ask questions and learn about volunteer opportunities in the community and for the Canoe Journey.
