Chico Way bridge ahead of schedule

The Chico Way bridge is still closed, but is “two months ahead of schedule,” according to Kitsap County Public Works.

The project to replace the bridge over Chico Creek on Chico Way that was damaged in the December 2007 storm was contracted to Quigg Bros Inc., of Aberdeen, on March 23.

The project began April 9 and is currently “ahead of schedule. All piles have been driven and pile caps poured. Bridge girders were placed on May 14.

The contractor is working on setting forms for the concrete deck, which will be poured later in June.

Work will proceed over the summer and completion is anticipated in late August,” according to the Public Works Web site.
