Local authorities released this photo of the masked man who robbed the East Bremerton Kitsap Bank early Monday afternoon. The photograph was obtained from the bank's video surveillance system.

A suspect robbed an East Bremerton Kitsap Bank branch early Monday afternoon and made off with an unknown amount of money.

The suspect, believed to be a man, walked into the bank, located in the 6700 block of Highway 303 in front of Wal-Mart, pointed a black, small frame revolver handgun at the bank clerks and demanded money, according to Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson. The teller gave the culprit money and he left the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

Wilson said the suspect was wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored coat and a dark blue ski mask over his head. He was wearing several layers of clothing.

Sheriff’s deputies and Bremerton Police officers searched for the suspect. Wilson said a K-9 track was attempted, but was unsuccessful in locating the man. At first, the K-9 picked up a track, but then lost the scent. Wilson said that indicates the suspect may have fled in a vehicle.

He said it is unknown at this time if the Kitsap Bank robbery is related to the Wheaton Way McDonald’s robbery Dec. 29 or the AM/PM robbery at the gas station on the corner of Silverdale Way and Highway 308 Nov. 30.

The FBI has joined the investigation, Wilson said.

Anyone who may have information about the robbery is asked to contact Detective Tim Keeler at (360) 337-4825 or the FBI’s Seattle Office at (206) 622-0460. Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at (800) 222-TIPS.
