Bellringer Fund soars to $2,450

An outpouring of community donations boosted the Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund to $2,450 over the holiday weekend, more than doubling its earnings since taking off two weeks ago.
The Kiwanis Club of Greater Poulsbo Foundation created a surge in the rising fund, offering up $1,000 to the cause, which is distributed by North Kitsap Fishline to help area residents with bills, food, emergency transportation and Christmas food baskets.
In appreciation, the Lions also recognize the Local 2819 Poulsbo Bargaining Unit of the Kitsap County Professional Firefighters, as well as Roy and Nell Sundberg and an anonymous donor, both of whom donated in memory of Merle Strand, for their contributions to last year’s Bellringer Fund. The donations helped top last year’s goal of $30,000 but came in too late for recognition in the North Kitsap Herald.
Donations to this year’s fund can be dropped off at Frontier Bank in Poulsbo, or at the North Kitsap Herald office. Donations can also be mailed to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370. The help number of the fund is (360) 697-6087.
The North Kitsap Herald is also collecting toys for Fishline’s Toy Shop. Each year the Herald staff collects new toys and items for kids of all ages to help make the holidays that much brighter, which is one of the many reasons the Herald is proud to be your community newspaper. Bring new, unwrapped gifts to the office at 18887 Highway 305, Suite 700.
