Bellringer Fund cruises past $25,000

Santa wasn’t the only one who came through over the holidays.

Bringing in more than $1,500, the North End community continued its support for the Poulsbo Lions Bellringer Fund, working steadily toward the year’s record $35,000 goal.

Fifteen members of the Kitsap County Professional Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 2819 Poulsbo Bargaining Unit contributed a hefty $850.

With all of this week’s donations combined, the fund is now less than $10,000 away from reaching its lofty aim, though it is still about $7,000 behind last year’s progress.

The money is used to assist North Kitsap residents in need with bills, food, emergency transportation and Christmas baskets. This is the fund’s 56th year, and the effort is a volunteer one, so that almost all of the money raised goes straight back into the community.

Mike Brooks of Mike’s Car Wash and Detail is donating $2 of every car washed in the months of November and December. Mike’s Car Wash is located at 19774 7th Avenue.

Donations to this year’s fund can be dropped off at Frontier Bank in Poulsbo, or at the North Kitsap Herald office. Donations can also be mailed to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370. The help number of the fund is (360) 697-6087.

Anyone still wishing to make a donation or hoping to push the total further toward its goal will have until next week to contribute. The final Bellringer listing will appear in the Jan. 5 issue of the Herald.
