St. Gabriel’s Winter Bazaar is Dec. 1-3 in Port Orchard

PORT ORCHARD — St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard once again is staging its annual Winter Bazaar in December to provide resources to help the needy in the South Kitsap community.

The bazaar is set for Dec. 1-3 at the church, 1150 Mitchell Ave. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2. On Sunday, Dec. 3, the event will run from 12-1 p.m.

As in past years, the church bazaars will include only handcrafted items from church members, including sewed pieces, paper crafts and other items. Gift baskets and kids grab bags also will be available for sale. More than 100 local merchants are participating with gift certificates and donated items.

Baked goods and “twice-loved” Christmas items and gifts also will be for sale. A Toy Land will be available for children to explore, sponsors say, and Santa Claus will make an appearance.

Admission is free. Tickets for a drawing on baskets will be handed out for a donation. A 50-50 cash drawing also will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Dec. 3. You need not be present to win.

Only cash or checks to St. Gabriel’s Church will be accepted.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Care & Sharing Fund at the church, a St. Gabriel’s spokeswoman said. Some of the money will also go to the assistance fund at St. Vincent de Paul of Port Orchard for its shoe program. Shoes are purchased in August for children in need as they head into the new school term.
