That type of letter serves no purpose

As I perused the editorial page in the Dec. 2 North Kitsap Herald, as I have so many times before, I expected to read and educate myself on fellow citizens’ political views.

Instead, I was appalled to be confronted with an ethnocentric, fear-mongering diatribe against Democrats and non-Christians. Why the Herald would choose to publish such a hateful letter (“In defense of the Electoral College,” page A5 by Doug and Risa Owen) — a letter accusing the majority of people (those who accept others’ religions, history, and worldview as equal to their own) of being vulgarity incarnate — is beyond me.

This type of discriminatory ranting is shameful and belongs at KKK meetings, not in community debates between political parties over Constitutional intent in regards to the Electoral College. Please consider the health of the community when publishing letters that promote xenophobia and denigrate entire political parties as useless and vulgar, with no pertinent examples or facts that would support such an awful claim about the majority of our state ‘s (and country’s) citizens.

That type of discourse serves no purpose, is absolutely harmful to non Judeo-Christian citizens, and to the community that loves and supports them.
