POULSBO — Lynden was leading 2-1 and held North Kitsap scoreless for two innings May 2 in Poulsbo.
Then, the Vikings unleashed a four-run barrage in the bottom of the sixth and relief pitcher Joey Regan held Lynden scoreless in the top of the seventh to seal the win and improve the Vikings’ record to 8-2, 14-3 and put them in a tie for the Olympic League title.
Charlie DeWilde got the win, allowing two runs and five hits in six innings. Regan got the save.
Regan also performed at the plate, going 1 for 3 with a stolen base and two runs. Leif Klinger was 1 for 4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Nash Gowin was 3 for 3. T.J. Jensen had two stolen bases and a run. Kole Milyard had an RBI. Brady Brann was 1 for 4 with two RBI. Tyler Trainer was 2 for 2 with two RBI and a run. Joe Creason was 2 for 2.
For Lynden, the losing pitcher was Austin Jones, who gave up three runs and eight hits in 5 and 2/3 innings. Jordan Wittenburg led the hitting for Lynden, going 2 for 4 with a stolen base and a run. Jones contributed an RBI and a run in three trips to the plate. Jacob Hommes was 1 for 3. Dawson Ohlischlager had an RBI.
