Vikings capture first win of series against Kingston

The North Kitsap Vikings won the first of two games against the Kingston Buccaneers 8-2 on April 24.

In the first inning, Viking Dawsyn Anderson was on the mound and picked up two straight outs in six pitches. Kingston’s Peau Tameilau smashed a ball over the leftfielder’s head for a double, but was left stranded.

NK’s offense has started out slowly much of the season, and once again, the Vikings had Cole Edwards, Alex Elton and Jackson Gore ground out. Seamus Gallagher-Kennedy pitched for the Buccaneers.

Anderson bounced around in the second inning. He walked Chayton Walker and Tyson Oliver. On the other hand, he struck out Aidan Matteson and Gallagher-Kennedy. However, Kingston scored first when Kade Burgoyne picked up an RBI single while dealing with an 0-2 count.

Kingston did not hold the lead long. Beau Pahrmann doubled to left field, and Noah Sorenson scored him with a double. Ethan Gillespie gave the Vikings a 2-1 lead with an RBI single. Yet, a couple of strikeouts left a handful of runners stranded.

Later in the game, Kingston found a second run in the game. However, the score was too lopsided by the end. NK scored its fourth-most amount of runs in a game this season with eight.

The Vikings captured their seventh win of the season.
