VanGesen named Athlete of the Week

PORT ORCHARD — Sierrah VanGesen’s high school career is off to a pretty good start.

The freshman midfielder has been named Athlete of the Week by the WIAA for her performance in her varsity debut. VanGesen scored the game-winning goal for South Kitsap in a 2-1 victory over Peninsula on Aug. 31.

The Wolves are currently 1-0-1 on the season. Their next game is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Kingston.
