KITSAP COUNTY — The South Sound Conference and Olympic League have announced the selections to their respective all-league teams.
Leading the way is Central Kitsap shortstop Fred Buckson, who was one of the West Sound’s best all-around players this year. Buckson was a South Sound Conference first-team all-league pick, hitting .405 with three home runs, 20 RBI and 23 runs scored as the Cougars’ table-setter. The Edmonds Community College-bound senior was also a standout on defense.
Buckson’s teammates Tristan Barr and Greyson McCormick joined him on the first team. Barr hit .356 with 15 RBI and 26 runs scored and McCormick, a junior, will lead a deep stable of pitchers in 2019.
2A Olympic League First-Team selections include Olympic’s Evan Turnquist and Kylen Pereira, and Bremerton’s Hector Infante. Turnquist played mostly shortstop and second base, batting .370, but also pitched 21 2/3 innings and had a 1.29 ERA, mostly serving as the Trojans’ No. 3 starter. Pereira, the Olympic backstop, also hit .370 with 13 RBI. Infante was Bremerton’s leading hitter with a .569 average to go along with six doubles and a triple.
Klahowya senior infielder Ben Streck joins teammates Nathen Mjor and Tanyr Gagnon on the first team in the 1A Olympic League. Streck hit .407 with 10 RBI and six stolen bases.
