SK boys basketball to play Auburn Riverside Feb. 7

The Wolves face Auburn Riverside in first round of playoffs for seed into West Central Districts

Over the weekend, several South Kitsap sport teams competed in playoffs.

Bowling

Senior Sarah Stolle competed in the 4A state bowling tournament Feb. 3 in University Place. After finishing 12th and ninth respectively the last two years, she took the state title by two pins.

“I’m excited for my final state appearance,” she said. “I’ve gone every year but never placed.”

I’m looking forward to trying my best and placing. I think it would be a nice finish.”

And a nice finish it was. She bowled a 211 in her final game, bowling five strikes.

Diving

Jason Gleason swept the competition at the West Central District 3 championships Sept. 2. He earned first place with a final score of 422.35 (63 points ahead of the competition). With this fourth-consecutive district title, Gleason will advance to the state tournament on Feb 17-18 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Boys Basketball

South Kitsap beat Puyallup 60-54 in their final regular season game of the season Sept. 2 to earn the fifth seed spot into playoffs. Izaijha Byrd scored 22 points and Deante Ward scored 17.

The Wolves will play Auburn Riverside Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Auburn Mountain View at 7 p.m. for a spot in the West Central District tournament.

Girls Basketball

The girls team lost to Puyallup 58-4 Feb. 2, bringing the lady wolves season to an end for this year.
