Six wrestlers propel Klahowya to regional victory

VASHON ISLAND — Six Klahowya wrestlers took home championships at the West Central District III Sub-Regional Tournament on Feb. 3, propelling the Eagles to a team victory.

Klahowya bested Vashon Island and Port Townsend in the tournament, and all three now move on to the 1A WIAA Regional Tournament on Feb. 10.

Payton Hlebechuk (106), Phil Stafford (113), Brian Spilman (120), Karsten Jensen (145), Austin Stahl (152) and Hunter Wallis (160) were all No. 1 in their respective weight classes for the Eagles. Sage Hlebechuk (113), Dallin Stafford (132) and Riley Farrell (195) all finished second.

Third-place finishes went to Mason Clark (126), Hayden Steele (132), Josiah Sorensen (138), Aidan Hamblet (145) and Dylan Chandler (152). Cam Johnson (106), Dakin Yates (120) and Jake McKeel (126) all took home fourth.
