Six wrestlers from NKSD still have shot at State title

Of the 13 wrestlers from the North Kitsap School District who made it to the Mat Classic this year, six stll have a shot at the State title.

TACOMA – Of the 13 wrestlers from North Kitsap School District who made it to the Mat Classic this year, six still have a shot at the State title.

From Kingston, Lindsey Barnhill (112), Bobby Reece III (152) and Jack Welker (220) won their first matches. From North Kitsap, Jake Sievers (113), Jake Velarde (138) and AJ Milyard (145) won. These six advance to the next round for a shot at the semi-finals. Second round matches began just after 4 p.m.

Kingston’s Ivy Rodolf (118), Mikole Hendricks (126), Josh Henden (152), Aaron Dickson (160) and Brian Mason (182) move to the consolation finals.North Kitsap’s Bella Livingston (118) and Brenden Best (285) move to the consolation finals. Consolation finals give wrestlers a shot at placing third through eighth.

Hendricks 10-3; Riccardo (Centralia) pin Henden 2:16; Reece (KHS) pin Camacho 1:32; Prentice (Tumwater) def. Dickson 14-1; Bailey (Centralia) pin Mason :59; Welker (KHS) def. White 5-3.

North Kitsap – Hu (Union) pin Livingston 1:25; Sievers (NK) def. Jordon 6-5; Velarde (NK) pin Patterson 1:48; Milyard (NK) def. Toledano 3-2; Miranda (Aberdeen) pin Best 1:20.

In gymnastics, Kingston’s Megan Keller competed on floor and bars. North Kitsap’s D’Anne Davidson competed in all-around and Jessica Dimof compete on bars. Those heading to the finals Saturday will be announced shortly.

Kingston’s Kevin Fox prepares to compete in the 100 Yard Fly and North Kitsap 200/400 relay team (Yorick Aban, Ian Christen, Michael Gilman, Ben Machen) prepare to compete in the preliminaries tonight at the King County Aquatic Center.
