Seven South Kitsap players are among the SPSL’s best

Outfielder/pitcher Statia Cermak was the lone first-teamer

PORT ORCHARD — Statia Cermak did a bit of everything for the South Kitsap fastpitch team this year. As a result, she is the lone first-teamer in the 4A SPSL, as voted upon by the coaches. Seven Wolves players made it on the all-league lists.

The UNLV-bound outfielder hit .574 and drove in 25 runs as she clubbed 16 doubles and five home runs. She didn’t pitch much — she only made five appearances all season — but over 22 2/3 innings, Cermak struck out 30 hitters with a 1.85 ERA.

Fellow hurler Kindra Hawkinson was a second-team selection. The senior righty had a 3.14 ERA and a 4-3 record in 14 appearances. Hawkinson is joined by sophomore Lynden Wolf and freshman Marisol Bergstrom. Wolf, a shortstop, hit .457 with 18 RBI and Bergstrom, a left-handed, slap-hitting outfielder, batted .357.

Senior Aspen Millet went 7-2 with a 4.09 ERA and was named to the Honorable Mention team, along with junior Naioki Marion and freshman Kaitlynn Johnston. Marion hit .386 with two home runs, three doubles and 15 RBI. Johnston batted .415 with a homer and nine RBI.
