Roundup: Windy weather wipes out Thursday games

Every match and meet for the seven mainland Kitsap schools were postponed

Thursday’s windy conditions and downed power lines and trees made traveling a difficult proposition, and it wiped out the day’s entire sports schedule.

By 1 p.m., the Bremerton and South Kitsap school districts had cancelled all after-school activities. The closure of the Hood Canal Bridge also affected games and meets with Port Angeles.

The North Kitsap Athletics office confirmed at 1:30 p.m. that boys swimming was postponed in addition to its wrestling meet with Bremerton.

The following games were postponed:

Boys basketball

  • Bremerton at Port Angeles
  • South Kitsap at Sumner

Girls basketball

  • Sumner at South Kitsap

Boys swimming

  • Kingston at Bremerton
  • Klahowya at North Kitsap
  • Port Angeles at Olympic

Wrestling

  • Bremerton at North Kitsap
  • Kingston at Olympic
