North Kitsap Vikings Baseball | Spring Sports Preview

North Kitsap Vikings Baseball | Spring Sports Preview

Head coach: Jeff Weible

2017 record: 21-5

Top returning players: P/1B Ryan Hecker, Sr.; C/P Kyle Green, Jr.; P/OF Jordin Robbins, Sr.; P/OF Peter Klos, Sr.; P/SS Isaac Richardson, Jr.

Key newcomers: P/IF Logan Chmielewski, So.; 2B Max Larsen, Jr.; P/IF Ryland Schmdit, Jr.; OF Josh Fisher, So.; P/1B Zach Meek, Jr.; P/SS Kaden Storm, Fr.; OF Nick Alexander, So.; C/P/DH Tucker Gowin, So.; P/IF Chris Schucart, So.

Outlook: The Vikings finished fourth at the 2A state tournament last year after capturing league, district and regional championships. North Kitsap is younger this year, but still very talented with a true ace at the top of the rotation in Hecker, the reigning Olympic League Most Valuable Player. The goal will be a league championship and a good playoff run, as always, and although they are less experienced — and should face plenty of good competition from Port Angeles, Kingston, Olympic and Sequim — they should be able to develop into a contender.

Schedule: March 14, 4:15 p.m., South Kitsap | March 16, 4:15 p.m. at Bremerton | March 21, 4:15 p.m., Olympic | March 23, 4:15 p.m. at Sequim | March 24, 1 p.m., at Shelton | March 28, 4:15 p.m., North Mason | March 30, 4 p.m. at Peninsula | April 11, 4:15 p.m., Port Angeles | April 13, 4:15 p.m., Kingston | April 14, 1 p.m. at Central Kitsap | April 16, 4:15 p.m., Bremerton | April 18, 4:15 p.m. at Olympic | April 19, 4:15 p.m., Sequim | April 21, 2 p.m. at Lynden | April 23, 4:15 p.m. at Kingston | April 25, 4:15 p.m. at North Mason | April 28, 3 p.m., Decatur | April 30, 4:15 p.m. at Port Angeles.
