North Kitsap shows no mercy against Port Angeles

North Kitsap dominated in its league opener against Port Angeles at Lumen Field Sept. 17 as the Vikings, which had struggled offensively this season, won 52-0 with 45 points coming in the first half.

Port Angeles began the game with the ball. However, the Vikings came with a full-blown attack, forcing two fumbles and recovering one on the first possession.

Shortly after, wide receiver Jaxson Gore picked up his first of three touchdowns for the night, scoring on a 17-yard pass from quarterback Beau Pahrmann.

Next possession, Port Angeles threw an interception on its own 41-yard line. On the Vikings’ first play, running back Carter Dungy took it to the endzone, boosting the score to 14-0.

On the next Viking possession, Gore scored again on a 29-yard catch and run. In the second quarter, North Kitsap picked up where it left off with wide receiver Caleb Callahan scoring on a 16-yard pass to make it 32-0. The Vikings’ scored two more touchdowns before the first half ended.

North Kitsap pulled the starters in the second half. The second stringers failed to score on their first possession, punting to Port Angeles. However, the Rough Riders still could not find a rhythm against NK, reaching the red zone once but failing to score after fumbling the ball on NK’s 19-yard line.

After a few failed attempts on both sides, North Kitsap running back Evan Anderson broke a 65-yard rushing TD with three minutes left for the final score.
