North Kitsap girls basketball

Head coach: Penny Gienger

2016-17 record: 18-6

Top returning players:Lauren Weins, guard, senior; Olivia Selembo, guard, senior; Noelani Barreith, guard, sophomore; Raelee Moore, guard, junior; Hali Apilado, guard, senior; Bea Bato, guard, senior; Katie Hughes, forward, senior; Erin Pearson, center, senior.

Key newcomers: Katie Komar, center, sophomore; Grace Johnson, forward, sophomore; Georgia Tucker, forward, sophomore; Ellen Rhoades, center, sophomore; Alicia Goetz, guard, junior.

Outlook: North Kitsap won the Olympic League title last year and finished second at districts. With a solid group of sophomores complementing six seniors, the Vikings are a good bet to repeat those accomplishments. A difficult early non-league schedule should help them round into form nicely.

Schedule: Dec. 1, 7 p.m., Franklin Pierce | Dec. 6, 7 p.m. at Bremerton | Dec. 8, 7:15 p.m., at Port Angeles | Dec. 12, 7 p.m. at Olympic | Dec. 15, 7 p.m., North Mason | Dec. 16, 4 p.m., South Kitsap | Dec 19, 5 p.m. at Bainbridge | Dec. 28-29, 7 p.m., Anacortes Girls Tournament | Jan. 5, 7:15 p.m. at Sequim | Jan. 9, 7 p.m., Kingston | Jan. 12, 7 p.m., Olympic | Jan. 16, 7:15 p.m. at Port Townsend | Jan. 19, 7 p.m. at Kingston | Jan. 23, 7 p.m., Bremerton | Jan. 26, 7 p.m. at North Mason | Jan. 30, 7 p.m., Port Angeles | Feb. 1, 7 p.m., Sequim.
