NK edges Bainbridge for 2nd in gymnastics

The North Kitsap Vikings finished second at the 2A/3A sub district gymnastics meet with 158.90 points, nearly two points behind North Thurston.

Bainbridge captured third with 157.775, and Kingston ninth with 56.075 points.

Jade Bereman and Avery Gray led the Spartans to a hot start in the vault. Bereman finished first with an 8.95, including being the only competitor to earn a 9.0 score from a judge. Gray finished third with an 8.80. North Kitsap’s Jordyn Lovett captured sixth and teammate Allison Lovett tied for eighth. Kingston’s lone vault competitor, Elli Fallen, fell in the middle of the pack.

Gray and Bereman continued to push the Spartans ahead with podium finishes in the uneven bars. Gray topped Bereman with 7.925 and a third-place finish, while Bereman earned fourth.

The Vikings rounded out the top eight as Lovett finished fifth, Alivia Palmer finished sixth and Arabelle Miller seventh. Kelsey Derr finished ninth. Kingston’s Kimberley Hust and Romane Colussi also competed in that event.

Bereman continued to dominate as she finished fourth in the balance beam with a 9.125. Libby Pickle made her way into the top five. Liz Oliffe tied for eighth, Grace Reeb finished 10th and Gray was 11th.

Vikings’ Lovett scored 9.15 and earned third, while Miller finished sixth. Fallen led the Bucs with Hust right behind her.

Bereman claimed fourth in the floor exercise with a 9.05, scoring her third all-around with 34.725. Lovett finished third in the floor with 9.375 and fourth all-around with 34.425. Palmer finished fifth in the floor and sixth all-around, while Gray finished seventh in the floor and fifth all-around. Fallen finished 22nd in the all-around.
