NK comes back to beat Kingston

For a little while, it looked like Kingston might upset rival North Kitsap in an Olympic League game Monday.

But the Vikings were able to come from behind a couple of times and outlasted the Bucs in the end 12-7.

The home team took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second after sophomore Peau Tameilau singled with a hard grounder to leftfield. He ended up scoring on a single to right by junior Joshua Brooks Armin.

After a hit batter, Buc pitcher sophomore Gavin Garner helped himself with by smashing an RBI double over the Viking centerfielder’s head. After a couple strikeouts by Viking sophomore pitcher Noah Sorenson another run scored on an error. After a walk loaded the bases, another strikeout ended the inning.

North Kitsap came back to tie it in the bottom of the inning.

After a groundout Ethan Gillespie, a junior, single up the middle. He scored on an RBI double to leftfield by Zach Edwards. Sophomore Cole Edwards singled up the middle for another RBI. Junior Jaxson Gore smashed an RBI double to knot the score before two outs ended the frame.

The Bucs came back to take a 4-3 lead in the third.

Garner was hit by a pitch and advanced after an error and passed ball. He ended up scoring on an RBI groundout.

NK came back to take the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

After a strikeout, three walks loaded the bases for Cole Edwards. He cleared the bases by hitting a rocket over the outfielder’s head for a triple.

With the win, North Kitsap improved to 7-2 in league play, 12-2 overall. Kingston fell to 3-6 in league and overall.
