Middle school coach hired to lead KHS football program

Former Kingston Middle School football coach Justin “Levi” Andrew has now been hired as Kingston High School’s football coach, following the unexpected resignation of Ethan Goldizen just weeks before the start of the season.

Godizen left to take a full-time teaching job in the Peninsula School District. Andrew previously served as an assistant coach for KHS and applied when Goldizen resigned from the position.

“I was always planning on coming back, and then Ethan stepped down, so I applied for the job and was interviewed and given the job,” Andrew said.

Kingston has not won many games in recent memory, going 8-31 over the last four seasons. The Buccaneers only play one Olympic League team this year (North Mason), as Kingston left the OL to join the Nisqually League the year prior.

Andrew has been coaching in the Kingston area for a decade and has coached some of the kids as the middle school coach. He notes the importance of having relationships with the students already and wants to point them in the right direction regarding life issues and helping them achieve their goals when it comes to football.

Some of the athletes whom Andrew has watched grow through the program are running back/linebacker Joziah Knight and wide receiver/defensive back Connor Mutch, who are both juniors. Knight led the Nisqually League last year in tackles for loss, totaling 12.0 in the 2024-25 season.

Andrew wants the team to be a run-first team and to play “fast and strong” on defense. The Buccaneers are aiming to keep some of what Goldizen was already running this summer just to make sure the kids are familiar with schemes and plays.

“As an offensive-minded coach, I always like to throw my wrinkles in there,” Andrew said.
