Zora Opalka of the Bainbridge High girls swimming and diving team won the Metro League championship in diving and also was first in district competition.

Rachel Degnan, a junior at Crosspoint High School, led the Warriors volleyball team in their final regular-season match with nine assists and five aces to clinch a spot at districts. Rachel was also named an Athlete of the Week by the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association, or WIAA.

Andrew Simon of Kingston High School placed second in the district cross country meet and 21st at state. His time of 16:03.2 was the 10th-best time run this season in 2A XC. He led his team to a second-place finish in league, third at districts, and 13th at state. (Photo: Kingston High School)

Jacob Simon and Jacob Laws of South Kitsap High competed in the state cross country meet Nov. 5 in Pasco. Simon placed 59th out of the top 162 runners in the state. “Jacob Simon was very inspirational to his teammates both in terms of leadership and ability to race well,” head coach Erin Fraser said. “Jacob Laws raced phenomenally well as a ninth-grader and was a great racer all year.” (Photo: Erin Fraser)
