Now that the Kingston varsity boys have a game under their belt, they can use the experience as a teaching point. The Bucs lost at North Mason, 89-64, on Wednesday night.
“No one on our team has any varsity experience. That was their first game,” Kingston High School coach Tim Olson. “Now they know what it’s about. They know the tempo of the game and understand it. This was also my first game as a coach.”
The Bucs’ loss was not due to lack of effort as his team played hard for all four quarters, he said.
Several players did manage stand-out performances.
Jack Clearman and Ry Ravenholt were responsible for most of the points, with 23 and 14, respectively.
As far as getting the ball where it needed to be, Aaron Lawrence “played and outstanding game. He brought the ball up the court. We were under pressure all night long,” Olson said. Lawrence also slipped comfortably into a leadership role by controlling the ball and creating a tempo the Bucs were comfortable with.
The Bucs will travel to Gig Harbor to play Peninsula at 7 p.m. Dec. 11.
